Masaba Gupta has taken the fashion industry by storm. Her bold and strong prints have brought in a whole new angle to prints on saris. At 24 she became the youngest creative director to head Satya Paul. Her first stunt into Delhi Couture Week had its own hi and lows. Her collection was a showcase of demi couture which literally means half couture. A collection which in some way bridges the gap between couture and ready-to-wear can be termed as demi couture.
Her collection was based out of a monochrome palette with mainly a lot of floral prints. The collection provided a glimpse into what demi couture would look like in the Indian fashion industry. The only disappointing part of the collection was the use of heavy jewellery which clashed with the prints and the garment in itself. It ended up ruining a carefully crafted look but as PC Jewellers were the sponsors for this collection, I guess Masaba had no choice but to cave in.
